*** WATCH *** CALLING ALL CARS: Beach search for woman experiencing mental health episode pays off… [HN VIDEO]
OSTERVILLE – As you will see and hear in the following HN Video, at about 1:30 a.m. this morning, Barnstable police officers responded to Dowses Beach to check on a woman who reportedly was experiencing some type of mental health episode.
The first officers on scene found the woman’s vehicle with its doors open, with the woman nowhere to be found. Officers became more and more concerned when their initial area search efforts came up empty.
A decision was made to dispatch all available Barnstable Police units to Dowses in order to initiate a larger land search. COMM FD responded to assist. Boats were also dispatched to search the waters off Dowses Beach.
About an hour and a half after the initial call, a Barnstable patrolman announced he found the woman on a nearby private beach. The land search had paid off.
Once confirmed, all search assets were able to stand down.
The woman was checked out by C.O.M.M. FD EMTs and transported to Cape Cod Hospital for further care…
