*** WATCH *** 18-year-old in heavy-duty pickup unharmed after knocking out power in Osterville…
OSTERVILLE – An 18-year-old male was unharmed after the heavy-duty pickup truck he was driving sliced through a utility pole and narrowly missed several trees last evening.
Shortly after 11:00 p.m., Barnstable Police squad cars rushed to South County Road in the area of Jubilation Way for a single vehicle crash. Upon arrival, officers found a large utility pole sliced into pieces with power out in the area. A large heavily damaged heavy-duty pickup truck was stopped just off the roadway beyond the shattered pole, dangerously close to live downed power lines.
The 18-year-old male driver ultimately walked away unharmed after being evaluated by EMTs. The young man then put a cigarette in his mouth and fiddled with his cellphone as an older woman arrived on scene and stood next to him. He had just been in a very serious crash and was extremely fortunate he wasn’t badly hurt.
As you will see in the following HN Video, a young patrolwoman spent time trying to speak with the driver, as the investigation continued in the background.
The driver was not arrested and showed no signs of impairment.
The Barnstable Police Department is investigating the cause of the crash.
