Police patrolman quickly extinguished kitchen fire…
CENTERVILLE – The quick response and actions of a Barnstable Police Officer saved a home from further fire damage last night.
Last evening at 9:12pm, Patrolman Travis Brown was dispatched to 126 Braley Jenkins Road for a kitchen fire.
According to a C-O-MM FD press release, flames from an unattended pan on the stove had spread to the microwave and cabinets above the cooking area.
Patrolman Brown was first to arrive on scene and used a fire extinguisher to put out the flames.
When firefighters arrived there was still heavy smoke throughout the home. The FD used large fans to ventilate the home after doing a thorough check for remaining hotspots.
The damage was described as moderate, with fire and heat damage in the kitchen, and smoke damage throughout the home.
Family members and pets made it outside safely without injuries.
