WEST BARNSTABLE – The call came in at midnight, right at shift change… “single car into a tree” on Osterville/West Barnstable Road in West Barnstable. First officers on scene discovered a tree split and down over the roof of the vehicle. When they looked inside, there were no occupants. You will hear them give the name and address of the registered owner. The registered owner was not the driver and was not involved. The actual driver showed up at Cape Cod Hospital moments after officers arrived on scene. A Barnstable Patrolman went to CCH to investigate and according to radio transmissions there will be charges. Firefighters had to break out a chainsaw to free the vehicle. The Barnstable County Sheriff’s Crime Scene Unit arrived to take photos. The Barnstable Police Department is investigating the crash.
