RAW PIG PURSUIT VIDEO: Police and photographers try to wrangle renegade pig in Brewster…
Photo: Mocking his pursuers during daring standoff…
BREWSTER – At about 10:00AM today, Brewster Police dispatched an officer to look into reports of a 60 pound brown pig running down Route 137.
The following video shows those who attempted to capture the wayward farm animal, including the pig’s owner, another news photographer, and officers from the Brewster and Harwich police departments (I think the officer from Brewster was also animal control…)
The pig has been on the run since Sunday.
HN also learned the young pig recently had his testicles removed. Which may actually make him less aggressive… much less of a danger to himself and the community.
It still remains uncertain why he refuses to return home. (But if I had one guess…)
The owner brought along her pig bell, said to be sometimes attached to her dog… and helpful while flushing the pig out after the dog chases him into cover…
Everyone was milling around the area of the most recent sighting when HN arrived… and for about 15 minutes there wasn’t any sign of the pig…
But then suddenly, the other photographer noticed something was watching…
We had just regrouped in some random driveway when the pig quietly walked into the open, just footsteps away from us, briefly staring at us, as if to say, “catch me if you can!”
We just stood there in disbelief. Was this little pig mocking us?
He then made his move.
As he took off running toward some brush, the officers went left. The owner went right. The Cape Cod Times photographer and I went directly in…
We instantly lost the little guy as the others circled around in some sort of pincer maneuver…
It was then the photographer from the Times flushed him out from behind a shed. We almost had him, but he cleverly took advantage of a momentary gap in our right flank.
The chase was on again.
HN NOTE: We did our best, but he was too much.
At the time of this report, the little swine remains at large in Brewster… in the area of Route 137 and Freeman’s Way, to be more precise…
You’ll hear some distinct huffing and puffing in this video. That was me. And to be fair, I’m recently coming off a bad cold… plus I didn’t have my directional mic…
I know, excuses, excuses…
But in our defense, the pig was wily and determined. We were clearly no match for the barnyard beast.
There wasn’t time to gather many details in all the excitement, like the pig’s name, etc… updates will be provided as they become available 🙂
We haven’t seen the last of this pig, as the story still “has legs…”
