Road Rage Terror Outside PetSmart: Man Reportedly Tails Woman to Hyannis Store, Flashes Handgun

HYANNIS, MASSACHUSETTS — A frightening road-rage encounter escalated outside the PetSmart at Festival Plaza Friday evening when a man followed a woman into the parking lot and reportedly flashed a handgun as she tried to enter the store, according to police sources.
Barnstable Police patrol officers raced to the scene shortly before 6 p.m. after the woman called 911 to report the alleged assault. Officers interviewed the victim and reviewed video from the area, which helped them piece together the suspect’s description. [Update: It remains uncertain whether or not police got a good look at the alleged handgun in the initial video footage…]
The man is described as a white male with graying hair, possibly in his 60s, and standing over 6 feet tall. He was last seen wearing a gray T-shirt and jeans. He was driving a gray, newer-model Ford F-150 pickup truck. No license plate information was immediately available.
According to the initial report, the suspect displayed the handgun outside the store entrance just as the woman was walking inside. No one was injured.
State police and neighboring departments have been alerted to be on the lookout for the suspect and to approach with caution. Barnstable police officers are actively investigating and plan to canvass additional nearby cameras for more detailed footage.
The case remains under active investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact Barnstable Police. [DEVELOPING]
