VIDEO: Route 151 shut down after collision sends 2 to hospital… one suffered serious head injury…
MASHPEE – [DEVELOPING] – One patient, described as having a serious head injury, was on his way to be airlifted from Barnstable Municipal Airport yesterday afternoon when a doctor opted to have him transported to CCH first instead, according to emergency radio transmissions.
Details regarding the young male’s current condition have not yet been officially released, and it remains uncertain whether he ultimately needed to be airlifted to an off-Cape trauma center after all.
A second patient was transported to Falmouth Hospital.
The accident occurred during the afternoon Mid-Cape rush hour, and Route 151 needed to be completely shut down for about two hours while first responders cleaned up and investigated the scene.
The accident occurred on Route 151 right in front of Mashpee High School.
Traffic was slowed and backed up well into neighboring towns during the road closure.
The accident is being investigated by the Mashpee Police Department and additional details were unavailable at the time of this report…
