SCU: Suspect with lengthy criminal record arrested on felony gun charges…
HYANNIS – On yesterday, 11/19/2014, members of the Barnstable Street Crime Unit were conducting surveillance on a motel on Route 132 regarding an ongoing larceny investigation.
This past Sunday, 11/16/2014, an unidentified person stole a computer from a Hyannis retail store. The incident was captured on the store video surveillance system.
The unidentified suspect was believed to be staying at the motel on Route 132 in Hyannis.
While conducting surveillance, plainclothes SCU officers observed a person fitting the description of the larceny suspect enter a vehicle in the motel parking lot. The vehicle also contained five other individuals. The vehicle was a 1999 Jeep SUV and was being operated by a 19-year-old male from Brewster.
The vehicle left the parking lot and a motor vehicle stop was conducted on Rte 28 near the Airport Plaza in Hyannis at about 1pm.
An on-scene investigation resulted in the recovery of a “loaded” Glock .45 caliber handgun with an illegal high-capacity 13 round magazine from inside the vehicle.
One of the subjects inside the vehicle was identified as Wykeem L. Price, age 28, from Roxbury, MA.
Price is very well known to Boston area law enforcement. He has a lengthy criminal history which included convictions and states prison terms for distribution of cocaine, assault with a dangerous weapon, and illegal possession of a firearm.

All six individuals from the traffic stop were taken back to BPD Headquarters for further investigation related to the loaded handgun. The Jeep was also reportedly towed back to BPD Headquarters…
The follow up investigation resulted in the arrest of Price.
(The subject wanted for the larceny was not in the vehicle after all.)
Price was charged with illegal possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, and possession of a large capacity magazine.
He was booked at the Barnstable Police Department and held on $20,000 cash bail.
