SHOCK VIDEO: Police & rescue save life of woman overdosing on pavement outside of Cumbies…
HYANNIS – Barnstable Patrolmen were first on scene at Cumberland Farms last evening, beginning crucial rescue efforts where seconds matter. Narcan was administered and officers then focused on getting some sort of reaction or sign of life from the unconscious female patient.
Onlookers, including the patient’s boyfriend, looked on in shock, anxious as to whether the young woman would survive.
When HN arrived, the patient was on the asphalt and unresponsive… things didn’t look good. Similar overdoses have turned fatal.
According to sources, the Narcan eventually took hold and the stricken female patient was able to speak with rescue workers inside of the ambulance.
As you will see in the following video footage, the parking area outside of the Cumberland Farms on Route 132 (at the intersection with Bearses Way) was busy and teaming with passersby.

HN NOTE: It’s important to realize these life-threatening overdose scenes are still playing out on a daily basis across the Cape. Although police and fire officials have become experts at reviving stricken patients, the stark reality is they are not always able to save everyone. Tonight’s scene, although shocking to watch, is an all too typical example of how close OD patients come to the point of no return. Tonight’s scene shows police and firefighters quickly arriving and doing things right, reversing the overdose death process.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, heroin use leads to just one of three places, death, incarceration, or recovery. When talking about heroin, there really are no other exceptions to this rule.
As an aside, while documenting the above scene, two young Hyannis men stopped and asked what was going on. As we all looked at the scene, the two young men were asked whether they have ever considered experimenting with heroin. The pair quickly answered, almost in complete unison, “Hell no!”
You see, they didn’t want to be that person turning blue and dying on the pavement.
There are much easier ways to travel through this life…
