INITIAL HN REPORT:
DENNIS PORT, MASSACHUSETTS – [DEVELOPING STORY] – At around 10:38 p.m. last evening – January 30, 2025 – Dennis Police patrol officers were called to an address on Division Street after a female caller said her mom was just cut by some random stranger. According to police sources, the woman was reportedly on her porch smoking a cigarette when a masked man approached and slashed her across the stomach. According to emergency radio transmissions, the woman also had cuts on her hands and one of her injuries was described as a puncture wound on her stomach. She was transported to Cape Cod Hospital with injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening.
The suspect reportedly fled the scene along Division Street on foot, toward Route 28. A number of squad cars from the Dennis and Harwich police departments immediately saturated the area and began searching. A police dog hit the ground tracking in a southerly direction. Dennis detectives and a crime scene photographer from the Sheriff’s department were called.
At the time of this report, police had very little to go on. The suspect was simply described as a tall black male wearing a ski mask and all dark clothing. Over an hour into the investigation, the search by K9 and patrol officers was negative. The suspect was still at large.
According to radio transmissions, the woman had just recently moved to the Division Street address. The investigation continued at her new Dennis Port address, as well as at Cape Cod Hospital.
The Dennis Detective and Patrol Divisions actively worked the case throughout the overnight. The investigation into these disturbing allegations can be described as “very active and ongoing.” At the time of this report, the alleged attack appears to be random. HN will provide updates as soon as official details become available.
