Someone stole a woman’s groceries right out of her cart…
SOUTH YARMOUTH – [DEVELOPING] – A woman was simply leaving the store after shopping when someone snatched her groceries right out of her cart…
At about 7:50PM last evening, Yarmouth Patrol Officers responded to the Super Stop & Shop on Long Pond Drive after a woman reported someone had robbed her of her groceries.
Officers initially had difficulty communicating with the woman and getting all of the facts. The woman is originally from Jamaica and only speaks a type of Creole dialect.
According to sources, police had the woman place a cell phone call to a special language translation hotline, in an effort to relay facts to the investigating officers.
Officers looked into the availability of camera surveillance footage and spoke with potential witnesses…
A witness told HN she had just finished advising the woman to keep an eye on her groceries when she was standing on the sidewalk in front of the Dollar Tree store in the same plaza…
At some point, a man (possibly a white male in his late 40s, early 50s, with a short beard, wearing a green hoodie and cargo pants – suspect description, however, has not officially been released…) took the woman’s groceries and fled the area in some sort of gray vehicle.
Police were piecing together sketchy details and looking into leads at the time of this report.
The following video highlights the scene shortly after the crime was reported…
