HN VIDEO – “VIOLENCE & DISORDER” – FRIDAY THE 13TH EDITION: Man flips out on officers while being cuffed/Suspect flees traffic stop/Female assault victim walks into Hyannis hotel lobby, etc…
HYANNIS – There is absolutely no way HN could ever cover all that happens in Hyannis during an average overnight…
… which is why I tend to only focus on the big stories.
But last evening – Friday the 13th – I wanted to give a little bit of insight into just a small fraction of what our first responders deal with on a nightly basis.
Much of what goes on really never makes it into HN’s final cut, but here is a rare look at some of the “lesser,” albeit often quite wild, scenes that viewers often do not get to see:
1. The first scene speaks for itself, literally… it contains very strong language and viewer discretion is highly advised. Keep in mind that the man who flipped out on the cops who were cuffing him, did so out on busy Main Street in front of visitors just out trying to have a safe and relaxing evening in our downtown area.
2. The second scene shows the tail end of a traffic stop in Hyannis by a Yarmouth detective where the driver got out and fled the scene on foot. But the detective wasn’t too worried about it. He knew the driver and he now had the fleeing suspect’s car, which was eventually towed back to YPD headquarters. (HN will provide updates on this story at a later date)
3. The third scene shows a routine two car traffic accident that was initially reported as possibly having injuries… but all passengers were checked out and eventually refused further treatment.
4. The fourth and final scene – at about 3:00 AM this morning – shows police arriving at a Hyannis residence where the inhabitants reportedly called about a drunk man inside the house that nobody seemed to know. It turned out that the drunken man was actually one of their roommates after all. Officers spoke with everyone and decided it best to take the drunken man into protective custody for the duration… to keep him safe and avoid any further problems…
