*** WATCH *** Bicyclist struck in Hyannis… [HN READER VIDEO]
HYANNIS – A Barnstable patrolman came across a car vs. pedestrian/bicyclist crash at the intersection of Winter Street and North Street, at around 9:00 p.m. last evening. The patrolman initially described the scene as a car vs. pedestrian crash. But as you’ll see in the following video, the victim’s bicycle was eventually discovered underneath the SUV. A witness who heard the crash described the crash as car vs. Bicyclist.
A HN reader was about a block away when he heard the crash. “I was at Speedway on North Street when I heard the impact and I skated up to the police lights and that’s when I took the video,” a reader said in a Facebook message. The injured male victim was reportedly down on the pavement as an ambulance was arriving on scene.
The driver of the SUV that struck the bicyclist remained on scene. The driver was described as a 55-year-old female from Forestdale. There was no mention of an arrest number or traffic citations being issued, according to police radio traffic.
There wasn’t any official information regarding the bicyclist’s current condition at the time of this report. He was transported to Cape Cod Hospital with injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening, according to radio traffic.
