HYANNIS – Not a creature was stirring until shots rang out this morning on Fresh Holes Road.
As you will see in the following HN Video, it was a blustery, hoary overnight, around 16° Fahrenheit when Barnstable Police began receiving reports of multiple shots fired at approximately 3:06 a.m. this morning.
One caller reported several gunshots followed by someone banging on his door, trying to get in. Others also reported hearing shots, then seeing individuals running away toward Hiramar Road.
There were tense moments as officers began checking on individuals seen out in the area.
An officer discovered a vehicle with a single bullet hole crashed onto the front yard of a Hiramar Road address.
Back in a parking area on Fresh Holes Road, officers recovered 12 spent shell casings, a mixture of .40 and .22 caliber.
A detective was called to the scene along with a member of the Barnstable County Sheriff’s Crime Scene Investigation Unit. The suspects had fled the scene and a police K9 was called to help search for suspects and evidence. Officers were unable to locate any suspects or anyone with injuries.
The vehicle that had been shot was towed back to Barnstable Police Headquarters.
The incident remains under investigation by the Barnstable Police patrol and detective divisions.
