*** WATCH *** EARLY MORNING SHOTS RING-OUT IN HYANNIS NEIGHBORHOOD
[HN VIDEO NOTES – HYANNIS, MASSACHUSETTS]
.) At around 3:00 a.m. this morning, a Barnstable police patrolman was nearby when he heard a number of gunshots in the vicinity of Bearses Way and Hiramar Road.
.) Upon further investigation, spent shell casings were discovered on Hiramar Road.
.) Officers began investigating vehicles and activity in the area, leading to three individuals being briefly detained in the area of Fresh Holes Road.
.) A member of the Barnstable County Sheriff’s Crime Scene Investigation Unit documented and collected the spent shell casings. (Additional shell casings were discovered later on in the morning after the sun came up…)
.) Officers were unable to find anyone who had been hit by the gunshots and there were no obvious signs of bullet holes in the area.
.) While investigating the gunshots, a male showed up at the Hiramar scene, in the area of a residence that had a restraining order against him. He was subsequently arrested for allegedly violating that restraining order. At the time of this report, police do not believe the individual arrested had anything to do with the spent shell casings and are currently treating both incidents as being separate and unrelated.
.) A Barnstable police detective responded to the scene and began working leads with investigating officers. The investigation is active and ongoing…
.) While officers were committed to working the area of Hiramar Road and Fresh Holes Road, a separate volatile “rolling” domestic was reported several blocks away in the area of Pitchers Way and Route 28. This caused some officers needing to abandon the shots fired scene in order to deal with the separate domestic disturbance. A male was ultimately taken into custody at the rolling domestic.
.) Both of the aforementioned separate arrests were made shortly after 3:00 a.m., but neither of those two arrests are believed to be directly related to the shots fired.
.) HN will provide official updates as they become available. [DEVELOPING]
