At around 7:30 a.m. this morning, Hyannis Firefighters requested a “first alarm assignment” for a smoke condition caused by smoldering hydraulic fluid from a “blown line” in an elevator machine room, according to radio transmissions. Oil absorbent was used to remove the smoldering hydraulic fluid, which set off a second smoke alarm as it was being removed the building and placed outside in a barrel, according to radio transmissions.
