*** WATCH *** HYANNIS MALE ACCUSED OF TRYING TO STEAL POT PLANTS & THREATENING MAN WITH GARDEN SHEARS
HYANNIS – A 57-year-old Hyannis male allegedly threatened a man with garden shears and tried to steal his outdoor pot plants early this morning, according to sources on scene.
Around 6:00 a.m. this morning, Barnstable Police patrol officers responded to a residence in the area of West Main Street after a resident encountered an unknown male in his yard allegedly threatening him with garden shears.
Officers caught up to the suspect in a wooded area to the rear of the Cape Cod Melody Tent.
The investigating officer on scene radioed there was probable cause to arrest the male for the alleged Assault by Means of a Dangerous Weapon (garden shears).
The man who called police had video evidence, but it’s unknown what was captured on the video. A member of the Sheriff’s Crime Scene Unit responded to collect evidence.
While being led to a police cruiser under arrest, the suspect openly welcomed media attention. It sounded like he wanted to tell his side of the story, but it remains uncertain what his side of the story could be in this particular situation. (HN will provide updates when they become available.)
During the investigation, officers were discussing the possibility of additional charges. The investigation is ongoing. And it remains uncertain whether the suspect actually damaged any of the marijuana plants…
The following HN Video highlights the suspect being taken into custody shortly after officers arrived to investigate.
