*** WATCH *** Hyannis male reportedly took off from bicycle cops… [plus additional bonus shenanigans from the overnight…]
HYANNIS – In the first part of the following HN Video, at around 2:00 a.m. this morning, Barnstable Police Officers assigned to bicycle patrol in the downtown area had reportedly been stopped with a pickup truck when the driver allegedly looked at his passengers and then back at the officers before taking off along Main Street. The officers, both on bicycles, radioed ahead that they just had a pickup truck take off. One of the officers reportedly recognized the driver and radioed the truck could be heading toward a residence on Circle Drive. There were reportedly four males inside the pickup truck.
Officers located the reported suspect vehicle within minutes, at an address on Circle Drive. The truck was unoccupied, and the house was in darkness. Officers believed the driver was hiding out inside the residence and urged him to come out and have a word. After a period of time, officers felt their reported suspect was not about to voluntarily exit the residence to speak with them. As you will hear in the following HN Video, officers then radioed they would be issuing a warrant for the reported driver’s arrest for Failure to Stop and Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle. [DEVELOPING]
In the second part of the HN Video from last evening, entitled “additional bonus shenanigans,” members of the Yarmouth Police patrol force had no idea what they were getting into when they responded to a call from a homeowner in the “Hyannis Park” neighborhood of West Yarmouth, shortly after midnight.
The homeowner reported that a woman and a man, both extremely intoxicated, were trying to get into his house. The two strangers had reportedly appeared out of wooded area in his backyard. The woman had scrapes from the thorns and brush. They were reportedly claiming their cellphone was inside his house.
Patrol units began arriving on scene right after it was reported the female had somehow managed to enter the house. She was eventually detained by officers.
The male was found walking away, about a block from the scene.
Both were reportedly employed on a large Yacht that was docked nearby in Hyannis Harbor. The female had an ID from Barbados. The male was from the UK.
The homeowner didn’t want to pursue the matter. He was reportedly more concerned about their level of intoxication.
Officers unsuccessfully tried to raise someone on the Yacht to hopefully take custody of the inebriated duo. Left with little other choice, officers took the two wandering drunks into protective custody.
The moral to the story: “Sailing the high seas in international waters is one thing, sailing too high in “Hyannis Park” is quite another…”
