*** WATCH *** MAJOR CRIME SCENE IN TRURO: MALE SUSPECTED OF KILLING HIS MOTHER, BURNING BODY IN FRONT YARD… [NEW DETAILS]
UPDATE FROM MICHAEL O’KEEFE’S OFFICE:
Cape & Islands District Attorney Michael O’Keefe and Truro Police Chief Jamie Calise announced today that as a result of a request for a well-being check and a separate report of a fire, emergency personnel responded to a location in Truro at approximately 9:30 pm Friday night.
Upon arrival they encountered a male subject outside the house and a fire on the front lawn. As the emergency personnel realized that it was a body that was burning, the male subject ran into the house and locked the door. The Cape Cod Regional SWAT Team responded and ultimately made entry into the home placing the subject into custody.
The male subject, Adam Howe (DOB 6-18-88) has subsequently been charged with Murder.
Evidence suggests that the decedent is Susan Howe (DOB 10-19-52), the mother of Adam Howe.
Arrangements are being made to have Mr. Howe evaluated for mental health issues as a result of conversations with and information from family members. The matter remains under investigation by State Police Detectives assigned to the District Attorney’s Office, Truro Police, and the State Fire Marshalls Office.

INITIAL HN REPORT:
MAJOR CRIME SCENE IN TRURO: Barricaded subject in custody…
TRURO – [DEVELOPING] – [HN NOTES] – Just before 11pm last evening I was notified regarding a possible victim of a major crime and barricaded subject in the Town of Truro. While en route I heard police radio traffic announce that the subject had been taken into custody. The Cape Cod SWAT Team (including a bearcat and rook barricade equipment) passed me on the highway on their apparent way back to the mid-Cape area. I was notified the scene was on Houser Way in the Town of Truro. Upon entering the Houser Way neighborhood I was stopped by Wellfleet police officers who were there on scene providing mutual aid. Various state police crime scene specialists were still on scene, including a member of the DA’s state police detective unit. One of the detectives mentioned that the DA may be en route, which told me the crime scene was a very serious one. I waited about two hours and the DA had not yet arrived. The following HN footage shows general shots of a major crime scene, which was still active as of 4:25 a.m. this morning. [DEVELOPING]
