UPDATE – 4/30/26: According to court documents, the man seen being arrested in the above HN photo had all criminal and civil charges against him dismissed during a 9:00 a.m. hearing yesterday — April 29, 2026 — in Barnstable District Court.

Massachusetts State Police arrested the man on Sunday, April 19, 2026, for the following charges: failure to stop for police, leaving the scene of a crash with property damage, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, speeding, marked-lanes violation, and failure to stop or yield.

All charges were dropped yesterday prior to arraignment at the request of the Commonwealth.

Unofficial sources close to the case indicate the charges were dropped after another suspect came forward. Following the initial arrest, HN reached out to Massachusetts State Police media relations and has yet to receive a response, despite being told the request was under review.

Unofficial sources have named a possible suspect, and HN will provide updated case details as they become available in court records.

YARMOUTH, MASSACHUSETTS – As you will see and hear in the following HN Video, Massachusetts State Police arrested a man after a vehicle reportedly took off from one of their troopers at over 100 mph on Route 6 early Sunday morning in Yarmouth.

A short while after troopers began searching for the speeding vehicle, which had reportedly fled, Yarmouth police officers were called to a single-vehicle crash on Starbuck Lane.

The vehicle was found empty, with the driver nowhere in sight.

Yarmouth police were in the process of setting up a perimeter and calling in a K-9 unit when one of their patrol officers located the possible driver walking on Arrowhead Drive, a block from the crash scene.

The 34-year-old claimed he was the passenger, but further investigation led officers to believe otherwise.

The man was taken into custody and transported to the State Police barracks in South Yarmouth for booking.

HN has reached out to Massachusetts State Police officials for additional details.

UPDATE: As of April 23, 2026, the Massachusetts State Police have not responded to HN’s requests for additional details.

It remains unclear why troopers took the man into custody and transported him back to their barracks.

Two individuals who claim to be friends of the man have reached out to HN saying he is innocent and that another person was behind the wheel. They assert that he was falsely arrested. [DEVELOPING]
