*** WATCH *** Officers investigating report of male allegedly trying to enter teen’s bedroom window…
HYANNIS – A 15-year-old girl could barely breathe from the terror of allegedly just witnessing a man attempting to break into her bedroom through the window this morning – at least that’s what was reported. A mother, also seemingly overwrought with fear, did her best in emerging English to tell officers about what had just occurred, as a Barnstable Police Patrolwoman arrived to translate.
The call came in around 1:30 a.m. and BPD squad cars instantly flew toward the family’s home on Yarmouth Road. Under the circumstances, the response couldn’t have been more efficient. Officers on scene were able to calm the mom and gather as many details known to her at that moment. Other officers fanned-out, searching surrounding streets. A Hyannis Fire Department rescue ambulance was called for the 15-year-old who was reportedly hyperventilating, apparently from the sudden shock of the alleged encounter.
A description was put out regarding a man fleeing toward Main Street, wearing a “neon” blue or green shirt – but nothing more than that. A neon shirt shouldn’t have been too hard to spot if he still had it on… but despite the timely response and saturation of the area, cops were unable to capture the alleged male intruder.
The 15-year-old was not transported to the hospital and officers remained on scene for a period of time attempting to gather details that added up…
According to sources, it’s uncertain what actually occurred this morning. Was the alleged male a stranger? Or was the alleged male somehow known to the teenager? It was an alarming scene, nonetheless. But what actually occurred? Police still have many unanswered questions… and HN will provide official updates should any present themselves…
