*** WATCH *** ONE ARRESTED, ONE TAKEN TO HOSPITAL AT EXPLOSIVE DOMESTIC VIOLENCE SCENE
HYANNIS – [HN NOTES] – Volatile domestic disturbances are an ongoing, daily occurrence here and across the Cape. From mental health emergencies to substance abuse and domestic violence, these scenes are dangerous for all involved. Individuals are often injured, and lives are put at risk.
When things descend into violent insanity and general madness, police are called in to defuse the situation. Sometimes they are successful, other times they are too late.
Last night’s call to a residence in Hyannis was one of those situations where someone got hurt. A woman called police reporting her husband was extremely intoxicated, attacking her and destroying the house. While responding, officers also learned the husband was reportedly assaulting his wife with a baseball bat. The male was quickly taken into custody, thanks to the rapid response of police officers in the area. The wife was evaluated and released on scene by Hyannis FD Rescue. A male roommate, however, was transported to Cape Cod Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries sustained during the disturbance.
No police officers were hurt during the arrest.
CAUTION: The following HN Video shows police temporarily stopping the violence at a domestic disturbance. There’s strong language, and at one point the suspect directed homophobic slurs towards one of the police officers. The suspect then stubbornly resisted officers while they were attempting to secure him in the backseat of a police cruiser. Due to the extreme volatility captured in the following HN Video, viewer discretion is highly advised.
