*** WATCH *** SECOND ALARM STRUCK AFTER EAST SANDWICH HOME IGNITES [FUNDRAISER FOR FAMILY – HOME IS “TOTAL LOSS”]
EAST SANDWICH, MASSACHUSETTS – [HN VIDEO NOTES] – A second alarm was struck as crews battled a structure fire early this morning.
At around 12:49 a.m., Sandwich Firefighters were called to 55 Osprey Lane for what was initially described as a fire on an outside deck. Moments later, firefighters reported heavy flames coming from the front of the home. All occupants had reportedly evacuated, according to radio transmissions. Firefighters then established an exterior attack as mutual aid began arriving from other fire departments. Two vehicles in the driveway were also on fire. One of the vehicles had stubborn flames that continued to flare up after being knocked down.
It took a while to get a “good knock” on the flames, and just over an hour later firefighters were still wetting down hot spots.
The State Fire Marshal was contacted, along with the building and wiring inspectors, who were reportedly en route…

SANDWICH — On January 30, 2025 at 12:49 am, the Sandwich Fire Department responded to a report of a deck fire at 55 Osprey Lane. On arrival crews found a fire under the porch of the house with extension to (2) cars in the driveway and the exterior of the building.
A 2nd alarm was requested bringing additional resources from Joint Base Fire Department on a line response and resources from Mashpee, Bourne and Cotuit Fire to the scene. Sandwich Firefighters extinguished the fire within 25 minutes and checked for additional pockets of fire in the attic. There was heavy smoke and heat damage throughout the rest of the house. The two cars in the driveway were also destroyed by the fire.
A total of 28 firefighters responded to the scene. The West Barnstable, COMM and Barnstable Fire Departments provided station coverage during the incident and Providence Canteen provided canteen services on scene.
There we no injuries reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation by the Sandwich Fire Department Fire Investigation Unit.
