*** WATCH *** SMALL FIRE QUICKLY KNOCKED DOWN AFTER CAPE COD HOSPITAL STAFF REPORTS CODE RED
HYANNIS – Firefighters responded to Cape Cod Hospital at around 11:07 p.m last evening for a fire alarm and report of “CODE RED” inside one of the labs. Hyannis Fire Department command arrived, observed smoke and requested a first alarm assignment. A small fire underneath a structure near one of the loading docks on Bayview Street was quickly knocked down. According to Captain Jeffry Huska of the Hyannis Fire Department, the fire had been smoldering since earlier in the day when builders were on scene. It is believed the workers were cutting wood when sparks dropped down between a crack in the flooring.
The quick actions of hospital staff and firefighters prevented the fire from spreading.
There were no reported injuries.
