*** WATCH *** OLDER MAN REPORTEDLY BEATEN, TWO ARRESTED FOR ROBBERY WHILE ARMED
YPD MEDIA STATEMENT: 911 CALL FOR ASSAULT LEADS TO ARRESTS, GUNS AND DRUGS SEIZED
SOUTH YARMOUTH, Massachusetts – [YPD STATEMENT] – Yarmouth Police responded to the 1300 block of Swan Pond Village shortly after midnight this morning after receiving a 911 call reporting an older man being beaten. Initial reports indicated the man had been beaten by people driving in a tan SUV.
Responding Yarmouth Officer Jesse Mabe located a tan SUV exiting Alewife Circle and stopped it. Officers quickly determined the occupants were, in fact, victims of the assault.
Further investigation led to the arrest of two men and charges for two others.
Anthony Mendoza was arrested and charged with: Robbery while Armed with a Firearm, Assault & Battery, Larceny under $1,200.00, Trafficking in 100 Grams or more of Cocaine, 2 Counts of Improper Storage of a Large Capacity Firearm, 3 Counts of Possession of a Large Capacity Firearm and Possession of Ammunition without and FID Card.
Zachary Martin was arrested and charged with Robbery while Armed with a Firearm, Assault & Battery, and Larceny under $1,200.00.
Yarmouth Police are still searching for Allen Gibbs and Anthony Martin as part of the investigation.
Allen Gibbs is wanted for Robbery while Armed with a Firearm, Assault & Battery with a Dangerous Weapon and Larceny under $1,200.00.
Anthony Martin is wanted for Robbery while Armed with a Firearm, Assault & Battery, and Larceny under $1,200.00.

*** WATCH *** SUSPECT FROM RECENT YARMOUTH POLICE PURSUIT REPORTEDLY ROBBED & PISTOL-WHIPPED
SOUTH YARMOUTH – [HN NOTES / DEVELOPING] – The 27-year-old man seated on the stretcher in the above HN photo was reportedly one of the victims of an armed robbery which occurred on Alewife Circle earlier this morning, shortly after midnight – he was also wanted by police for several active arrest warrants, for alleged drug offenses and allegedly being involved in a recent high-speed police pursuit, where four individuals ditched a car in the backyard of a West Yarmouth residence before fleeing the scene on foot. As today’s story goes, earlier this morning Yarmouth Police officers were responding to Alewife Circle for a complaint of a barking dog. While enroute, officers were updated regarding a report that an old man had just been beaten up in the vicinity. Officers were also told that a tan colored Suburban was somehow involved.
A patrolman who was already in the area spotted the Chevy Suburban turning onto Forest Road from Alewife Circle. A couple of officers conducted a traffic stop and soon learned that the three occupants had just allegedly been the victims of an armed robbery. The older male driver was the one that a witness says was being beaten. A 27-year-old male passenger – the one who also had several arrest warrants – claimed he had just been pistol-whipped a number of times during the robbery. According to sources, and as you will hear in the following HN Video, he suffered a head laceration and reportedly was in and out of consciousness at one point. He was handcuffed to a stretcher and transported to Cape Cod Hospital while under arrest. A YPD patrol officer followed the Yarmouth FD ambulance to keep an eye on the prisoner.
There was a third adult male inside the tan Suburban who was also believed to be a robbery victim in this case.
Back on Alewife Circle, officers located evidence on the side of the road, believed to be where the armed robbery and beatings had taken place. The alleged scene of the crime was photographed by a member of the Sheriff’s Crime Scene Unit.
Outside one of the apartments on Alewife Circle, police officers spoke with several individuals. Two adult male suspects were arrested and transported back to YPD Headquarters for booking on charges related to the alleged robbery.
As you will hear in the following HN Video, police across the region were alerted to be on the lookout for two other adult male armed robbery suspects who managed to leave the area before police arrived. The two outstanding robbery suspects are possibly armed, according to radio transmissions. Police were told to use caution.
At the time of this report, police are applying for a search warrant for a residence that may hold evidence related to this morning’s alleged armed robbery. This is a developing report and HN will provide updates and official details as soon as they become available.
