*** WATCH *** Woman Criminally Charged After Allegedly Ditching SUV on Hyannis Train Tracks
HYANNIS, MASSACHUSETTS – Barnstable Police responded to reports of a disabled vehicle stranded on the railroad tracks near Route 28 and Yarmouth Road. What they found was a Honda Pilot stuck on the rails — and a tale about the driver allegedly leaving the scene.
According to sources, an officer arrived to discover a male from Provincetown still on scene. The man claimed he was a passenger who had been riding with his girlfriend when she veered onto the railroad tracks. Reportedly “freaked out,” the girlfriend then allegedly fled the scene, leaving the Honda Pilot and her boyfriend stranded on the rails.
The Honda Pilot came back registered to a 62-year-old woman from Eastham, according to radio chatter. Backup units quickly canvassed the area, swiftly locating the alleged driver wandering amid nearby construction equipment just over a block away. She was escorted back to the scene for questioning.
A towing company was called in to carefully extricate the vehicle from the tracks, averting any potential disaster with oncoming trains. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and trains were not running at the time of the incident.
The woman now faces a summons for criminal charges, including leaving the scene of a vehicle crash with property damage, per on-scene sources.
