*** WATCH *** YOUNG MOTORCYCLIST AIRLIFTED AFTER TRAUMATIC HARWICH PORT CRASH
HARWICH PORT, MASSACHUSETTS – [HN VIDEO NOTES] – The single-vehicle motorcycle crash happened on Route 28 at the intersection of Snow Inn Road early this morning, at around 12:43 a.m. First responders found the motorcyclist unconscious with serious trauma, according to radio transmissions. The motorcycle was just barely recognizable, torn into multiple pieces during the crash. The motorcyclist was described as being an approximately 25-year-old male in “trauma 1” condition, according to radio transmissions. A Medflight helicopter was requested and expected to take over 50 minutes to respond. Since there was a significant amount of time prior to landing, the Harwich ambulance crew requested the helicopter land at the Hyannis airport while transporting the patient to Cape Cod Hospital first. Once Medflight was on the ground in Hyannis, a Hyannis FD ambulance crew responded to Cape Cod Gateway Airport to pickup the Medflight crew and bring them to CCH to prepare the patient for flight. The patient and helicopter crew were then transported back to the airport, where the patient was airlifted to an off-Cape trauma center.
The Harwich Police Department is investigating the cause of the crash.
