Woman Accuses Police of “Rape” After Wild 120 MPH Chase Ends in Yarmouth [HN Video] [NEW DETAILS!]
NEW DETAILS & ALLEGATIONS BASED ON A “STATEMENT OF FACTS” FILED IN DISTRICT COURT:
According to a “statement of facts” filed in Barnstable District Court, shortly after midnight on Friday morning, Trooper Seth O’Hearn was patrolling the Mid-Cape Highway in a fully marked state police cruiser. While monitoring eastbound traffic in the area of mile marker 65, Trooper O’Hearn reportedly observed a gray Audi sedan traveling at a high rate of speed. Using a handheld “LIDAR” (a device that uses infrared laser beams to accurately measure speed), Trooper O’Hearn confirmed the Audi’s speed as 105 MPH. He then activated the cruiser’s blue emergency lights and attempted to conduct a traffic stop. While attempting to catch up to the Audi, the trooper noted the operator – later identified as Maggie Saltus, 37, of Milford, Connecticut – still traveling well above the posted speed limit of 55 MPH.
Saltus reportedly failed to stop for the trooper while at one point traveling in excess of 120 MPH, changing and straddling marked lanes for a span of around 10 miles. It was a potentially deadly situation for Saltus, the trooper, and other motorists. Trooper O’Hearn decided to terminate the pursuit as the Audi exited the highway into Yarmouth at Exit 75. Already notified of the situation, a Yarmouth Police patrolman had encountered the Audi stopped at the base of Exit 75. Additional officers, along with Trooper O’Hearn, arrived on the scene in order to attempt a “high-risk” traffic stop. Saltus was eventually detained in handcuffs without further incident.
As the investigation continued, Trooper O’Hearn reported observing signs that Saltus had been driving while impaired, such as glassy eyes, slurred speech, and a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from her breath.
While being placed into the cruiser, Saltus reportedly became combative and “extremely uncooperative” with officers, unbuckling her seatbelt and stating, “no, get him away from me, he has been abusing me, he touched my vagina, I don’t want him near me.” She also can be heard in the following HN Video saying that she had been abused by her boyfriend in the past. Saltus continued to be “extremely irate toward all the officers on scene, expressing confusion as to why she was being taken into custody, saying, “You guys are crazy, if I had known there was a cop behind me, I would’ve stopped. You guys are nuts, like this is nuts.”
Officers reportedly located open nip bottles and an open can of beer on the passenger-side floorboard.
While transporting Saltus back to the barracks, her behavior reportedly worsened as she violently kicked the backseat divider while also trying to spit on the trooper. Trooper O’Hearn’s report continues as follows:
“[Saltus] was escorted into the barracks and on the way began to resist myself and a Yarmouth Police Officer. Saltus was yelling profanities on the way inside the barracks and accused me of raping her. While inside Saltus requested a female officer, we attempted to locate a female trooper and had negative results. While escorting Saltus to the booking bench I attempted to take off the handcuffs and return them to the Yarmouth Police Officer who assisted. During this attempt, Saltus turned towards my direction and spit once landing saliva on both my eye/eyelids. Due to this exposure, Yarmouth EMS was dispatched to the barracks, as a result I eventually drove myself to Cape Cod Hospital to be further evaluated. Officer Lake, [a female officer from the Dennis Police Department], arrived at the barracks and assisted with the booking process. Saltus was still extremely resistant to everyone around. The attempt was made to read the Statutory Rights and Consent Form per OUI Arrest and Miranda Warning Rights, however Saltus would continue to disrupt and yell over any attempt of reading these papers. After many attempts and in order to proceed with the booking process Saltus was documented as a refusal for the evidentiary breath test.”
Saltus’ volatile behavior continued according to the following excerpt from Trooper O’Hearn’s report:
“Due to Saltus being uncooperative she was placed in cell #1. Saltus continued to be extremely irate and was yelling the whole time. While in the cell, she purposefully flushed the toilet to the point that it overflowed into the cellblock and eventually leaked further into the booking area. Due to the inherent hazard and need to be decontaminated we contacted a 24-hour Biohazard Remediation company who specializes in professional cleanups. The 24-hour Biohazard Remediation company was used for the entire booking area including the cells as well as my assigned cruiser. The overall scene of the booking room continued to worsen as Saltus purposefully splashed Trooper Austin with the same hazardous liquids recently released from the toilet bowl. Saltus then began to gag herself to release vomit into the area, then she picked up the vomit and began throwing it across the room. It could be seen splattered up against the wall behind the booking computer as well as the general area where the computer is located. Saltus damaged the booking camera used to capture a headshot of the detainees as well numerous rugs inside the booking area from her disruptive behavior. She additionally threw the same Biohazard liquids/materials at Trooper Austin’s Body-Worn Camera requiring the 24-hour Biohazard Remediation company to also decontaminate this. The [Body-Worn Camera] was coated with vomit due to Saltus’s actions.”
Saltus is being charged with the following:
- Fail to Stop for Police
- Operating a Motor Vehicle While Under the Influence of Liquor ( 4th or Greater Offense )
- Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle
- Speeding (120 MPH in a 55 MPH Zone)
- Unregistered Motor Vehicle
- Fail to Drive in Right Lane
- Marked Lanes Violation
- Possession of an Open Container of Alcohol in Motor Vehicle
- Assault & Battery on a Police Officer (x2 counts)
- Malicious Destruction of Property (x5 counts)
- False/Silent 911 Call (for allegedly using “Hey Siri” on her cellphone to dial the Yarmouth Police while she was in the booking area)
Saltus was reportedly given a copy of a notice of license suspension prior to being transported to Barnstable District Court for her arraignment.
Saltus reportedly received her third OUI in 2023 while in Broward County, Florida. The following is an online Florida mugshot showing a woman with the same name and date of birth after being charged with drunk driving and other offenses in Broward County, Florida. (courtesy mugshots.com)

It should be noted that the state troopers’ body-worn cameras and cruiser cameras (and likely others at the barracks) reportedly captured much of the arrest, transport, and booking process. Yarmouth police officers on scene were also wearing body-worn cameras…

INITIAL HN REPORT & VIDEO:
YARMOUTH, MASSACHUSETTS — A dramatic high-speed pursuit on Route 6 turned chaotic early Friday morning when a woman led a Massachusetts State Trooper on a chase reaching speeds of 120 mph on Route 6, according to radio transmissions. She was arrested and minutes later accused [police] of “rape” while in custody, according to HN observations and video.
The incident unfolded around 12:30 a.m. when the trooper tried to stop a gray Audi traveling eastbound on the Mid-Cape Highway, according to radio transmissions. Moments later, a Yarmouth Police officer located the suspect parked at the bottom of the ramp at the intersection with Union Street, with the trooper and additional Yarmouth officers quickly arriving to assist.
HN video footage captured the woman, born in November 1988, appearing very uncooperative as she was placed into a state police cruiser. She was then transported to the Massachusetts State Police barracks in South Yarmouth for booking.
The following HN video footage also captured the scene outside the barracks, where the situation escalated further. As the trooper escorted her inside—with body camera activated—the woman yelled accusations of rape and demanded a Breathalyzer test. Shortly after, a Yarmouth Fire Department ambulance crew responded to treat a trooper who had reportedly been spit on in the eye, per radio reports.
The woman remains in custody, and authorities have not released further details on charges or the ongoing investigation. HN is actively working on gathering official details.

HN after dark… [unrelated HN images from recent overnights]

ABOVE: Barnstable Police officers were on the scene of a possible active breaking and entering last evening, with the suspect potentially still inside. A careful check revealed that the suspect had already fled. The incident occurred at a residence on Murray Way in Hyannis. A member of the Barnstable County Sheriff’s Crime Scene Unit assisted at the scene with evidence collection and documentation. The investigation is ongoing.

ABOVE: Dennis Police patrol officers rushed to a Dennis Port address Wednesday evening after a man called to report that his roommate had just stabbed him in the eye. HN was on scene as officers discovered what really happened. It turned out the eye injury wasn’t severe, and the man was not immediately transported from the scene to the hospital; instead, he ended up being arrested. What initially sounded like a potential bloodbath turned out to be a fight between two young adult male roommates, with the caller being the one under arrest after all was said and done. The arrestee changed his mind about needing treatment for the alleged eye injury once he was being booked on domestic violence charges at Dennis Police Headquarters.

ABOVE: Barnstable Police officers arrested a Sandwich man earlier in the week who reportedly was wanted in Sandwich for Armed Robbery. The photo shows a Barnstable Police patrolman speaking with the passenger who was eventually released from the scene, while the suspect was in custody in the backseat of the police pickup truck. HN, due to time constraints, has been unable to gather additional details from the Sandwich Police Department regarding the “Armed Robbery” warrant. HN will provide updates as they become available.
