WOMAN REPORTS CAR STOLEN… TURNS OUT ANOTHER WOMAN MISTOOK IT AS HERS… [HN PHOTOS]
WEST YARMOUTH – [HN PHOTO NOTES] – Yarmouth Police patrol officers responded to the parking lot of Honey Dew Donuts, 517 Route 28, for a man and woman reporting their 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee had just been stolen.
“B.O.L.O.s” were put out to other police departments in the area as Yarmouth officers searched Route 28 and adjoining sideroads within their town. Barnstable Police Officers assisted by saturating streets near the town line. State troopers had their eyes peeled out on the highway…
Thanks to a GPS technology, about an hour after the vehicle had been reported as “stolen,” Yarmouth officers were able to trace it to an address several blocks away.
Officers responded to a West Yarmouth address and found the missing vehicle parked in the driveway. Officers spoke with a family on scene, who were very cooperative, quickly determining the vehicle had been taken by mistake. A woman on scene explained she mistook the Jeep Grand Cherokee as her own. She now also realized that her vehicle was still back in the parking lot outside of Honey Dew Donuts. (It remains uncertain whether she had already consumed her morning coffee prior to taking the wrong vehicle… which would possibly explain things if she hadn’t…) A patrolman gave her a ride back to Honey Dew in order to retrieve the correct Grand Cherokee.
The male half of the couple who reported their vehicle stolen was then also given a ride to the address where it was found. The vehicle and its contents were in order.
In the end, all parties were reunited with their appropriate automobiles… and their was a noticible feeling of jubilation and good humor among all involved.
“TGIF, baby!”
