Woman trapped in hit and run rollover… drunk driver arrested after fleeing toward home… [VIDEO]
CENTERVILLE – At about 8:00PM, police and rescue rushed to the scene of a rollover accident with injury at the intersection of Pine Street and Strawberry Hill Road.
As you’ll see in the video, when HN arrived, a white Toyota SUV was on its side with a middle aged woman trapped inside.
The other driver had already fled the scene in his vehicle headed west on Pine Street. A witness reportedly followed the fleeing driver and called police…
Police immediately located the fleeing vehicle parked at an address on Waterside Drive. The driver was quickly located inside of the home and arrested.
Joseph Cronin, age 45, of Centerville was arrested and charged with Operating Under the Influence, Operating to Endanger, Leaving the Scene of a MVA with Personal Injury, and Leaving the Scene of a MVA with Property Damage. Cronin will also be charged with a Stop Sign Violation. He was transported back to Barnstable Police Headquarters for booking and processing.
Back at the scene of the crash, firefighters cut through the windshield and extracted the injured female driver. She was transported to CCH with injuries that were described as not-life-threatening.
The accident is under investigation by the Barnstable Police Department.
