WAR : Home riddled with bullets…
Hyannis – At approximately 3:10am police were searching neighborhoods in the West Main Street area after several reports of gunshots. “Lafrance Ave” and the apartments at “398 West Main Street,” the residence of – surprise surprise! – Anthony “Little Ant” Russ were mentioned in police radio chatter.
At 3:20am a woman at 43 Erin Lane reported that her home was hit with numerous shots, and that the shooter(s) had sped away.
Earlier in the evening Barnstable Police received a call about 4 men dressed all in black wearing ski masks running through yards in the area… it’s still uncertain if that call is somehow related, but it was mentioned as officers searched the area…
One thing is certain, the home at 43 Erin Lane is full of multiple bullet holes. At least 14 spent shell casings were found, marked off, and photographed at the end of the driveway. Officers with flashlights combed and collected evidence for about an hour after the shooting.
Aside from frayed nerves and unsettled stomachs, nobody at 43 Erin Lane was injured.
What’s behind all the recent “gun play?”
Here’s one theory:
Word on the street is that Anthony “Little Ant” Russ is caught up in his own little private war.
The very recent and mysterious shooting early Saturday morning on West Main Street still has everyone wondering what in the world is happening in our quaint little Combat Zone by the sea.

Some are suggesting things may be a little different than originally expected.
According to sources, our notorious and fantastically lucky Anthony “Little Ant” Russ was actually not the aggressor (for once…) in Saturday morning’s shooting…
That shooting, which sent one woman to CCH with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds was possibly an ambush involving a shotgun. The intended target, Little Ant himself.
No shells were recovered on scene. Which leads some to believe the shooting actually took place between two vehicles. The spent shells never ever hitting the ground.
The exact location of Saturday morning’s shooting is still uncertain. But it is still estimated that it occurred very close to 398 West Main Street, Apartment 2C, the home of the embattled Little Ant.
Here’s another similar theory being bandied about:
This past Saturday morning, shots rang out, hitting a woman sitting in the same vehicle as Anthony Russ. Russ, the lucky Little Ant, the intended target took off scurrying from the scene on foot, without a scratch. His female friend drove in a different direction towards Cape Cod Hospital for immediate treatment.
It was an ambush that didn’t work out for Ant’s foes…
… this time.
And one that reportedly brought the full fury of an extremely aggravated and vengeful Mr. Russ. How dare anyone take a swipe at the swiper! Like all angry Ants, he wanted to know who had just tried to squash him. People were approached, names taken, “messages” sent, something very wrong had happened in Little Ant’s world, something requiring retaliation.
Meanwhile, the unintended shooting victim “took one for the team…” In fact, the Little Ant Team remained strong and united throughout the night and remainder of the weekend. Not talking to police. Keeping their Little Ant secrets.
However, some suggest the thrill is now gone for some of Ant’s “friends,” there are rumors of leaks. Others are fascinated at the prospects of any remaining loyalty what-so-ever.
But in reality, one has to wonder how long any remaining loyalty will or could actually last? How long will Little Ant’s “friends” keep taking bullets for him? Many are betting on dissension in the Ant ranks. That Ant’s foes, and there are many… are beginning to rally against him.
What happened last night at 43 Erin Lane is just one battle in what now has become a full out Ant war.
Why so many Little Ant foes?
The answer is elementary my dear Watson… basically the Ant has been shooting off a bit more than his mouth over the past decade. He has stepped on toes, he has hurt people, and when that didn’t satisfy him, “caps were busted.” Some bullets reportedly hitting or coming very close to his victims.
He has been implicated in at least two murders that we know about.
In short, he has been a very bad Ant.
