[HN NOTES] – WEST YARMOUTH – What happens in West Yarmouth usually stays in West Yarmouth…
… but not if HN is around… and especially not if the call involves someone getting hosed in the face with some unknown “chemical,” later found out to be pepper spray.
As you will see and hear in the following HN Video, at around 10:48 p.m., multiple Yarmouth Police cruisers rushed to an address on Chandler Gray Road for what was initially described as a “general disturbance.”
The first officers on scene encountered a Rhode Island man in pain, having just been sprayed with some type of chemical agent in the face, including his eyes and nose. Police quickly learned the man had been actually spritzed with a generous helping of pepper spray.
The scene turned out to be a “party” among friends vacationing here from Rhode Island.
Now, HN is no expert on the wiles and ways of Rhode Islanders as they try to relax on vacation, but I’m pretty certain “oleoresin capsicum” spray, a chemical generally reserved for policing, riot control, crowd control, self-defense, including defense against bears, is not what would be considered a party favor normally enjoyed by our friends and neighbors from the wonderful “Ocean State…”
… but I could be wrong… as Bobby Dylan used to say back in the ’60s (when some of us were just wee pups), “The Times They Are A-Changin’…”
(oh man, how right he was!)
When all was said and done, the police decided arrests were not warranted in this particular case but they did hang around for a spell, as some of the “friends” decided it best to go on their separate merry ways for the remainder.
Alcoholic beverages may have likely been a factor, but that has not been officially confirmed.
The following HN Video highlights all the “fun.”
