HN PHOTOS: Another stolen pickup from West Yarmouth… second morning in a row!

WEST YARMOUTH – For the second morning in a row Yarmouth Police Officers responded to a report of a stolen pickup truck in West Yarmouth. Earlier this morning – Wednesday, December 1, 2021 – patrol officers responded to an address on South Sea Ave for a report that a work truck had been stolen sometime during the overnight. This time the company truck was equipped with a GPS device. Minutes after arriving at the South Sea Ave address, officers fanned out and located the stolen truck on a side road several blocks away. The man who reported the truck stolen told HN the GPS device has a high pitched alarm which possibly spooked the thief.
A member of the Barnstable County Sheriff’s Crime Scene Unit processed the stolen pickup truck for finger prints. This morning’s stolen pickup truck was a newer model than the 2000 Chevy Silverado that was reported stolen from a nearby address yesterday morning – Tuesday, November 30, 2021.
But also of note, this morning’s stolen vehicle was a very easy target as the keys had been left in the ignition the night before, according to the man that called police.
While investigating this morning’s scene, a Yarmouth Police Patrolwoman circled the block and located another nearby pickup truck that also had been broken into sometime during the overnight. This time the vehicle was not stolen.
Sources tell HN there have been other recent reports of vehicle break ins in the general West Yarmouth vicinity.
The Yarmouth Police Department is actively investigating the two stolen pickup trucks, along with other nearby vehicle break ins in the South Sea Ave area…

HN NOTE: Please don’t make it easy for thieves. Lock your vehicle’s doors and do not leave the keys where thieves can easily grab them. ¡POR FAVOR!
