Young Woman Rushed to Cape Cod Hospital After Early Morning Crash on Route 6 in Harwich

HARWICH, MASSACHUSETTS — A young woman was transported to Cape Cod Hospital early this morning with injuries not believed to be life-threatening after a single-vehicle crash on the Mid-Cape Highway.
At around 5:00 a.m., Massachusetts State Police and Harwich firefighters responded to Route 6 eastbound at mile marker 80.6 for reports of a rollover crash. Responders found the female driver conscious and alert, complaining of chest and leg pain. (She was the sole occupant of the vehicle.) She was stabilized on scene and placed into a Harwich Fire Department ambulance for transport to Cape Cod Hospital.
According to the driver’s account, she told responders she had struck a guardrail, according to radio transmissions. Initial reports indicated a possible rollover, but officials now believe the vehicle did not actually overturn — though damage to the car was heavy nonetheless.
The Massachusetts State Police are investigating the cause of the crash. At the time photos were taken, officials were still working to determine exactly what the vehicle had struck.
No other vehicles were involved. The investigation continues.
