YARMOUTH POLICE DEPARTMENT ANNOUNCES PASSING OF RETIRED K9 CLARK
It is with great regret that the Yarmouth Police Department announces the passing of retired Yarmouth Police Department K9 Clark. Clark served the Yarmouth Police Department from 2005-2012 as a patrol canine.
Clark was born April 3, 2004 in Senec, Slovakia and came to the United States specifically for a career in law enforcement.
Clark was introduced to his handler, Patrol Officer Marc Thibeault and together they served as a K9 team for the Yarmouth Police Department.
Clark was trained in tracking, building and area searches, evidence recovery, crowd control and handler protection. Some of Clark’s most notable achievements were the successful track of a motor vehicle homicide suspect in Yarmouth, the track of a suspect in a stabbing in Barnstable, and the track of a child rape suspect in Dennis.
Clark was also certified as a SWAT K9 and served with the Cape Cod Regional Special Weapons And Tactics Team.
Clark was injured following a SWAT deployment in 2011, requiring thousands of dollars in surgery. The overwhelming support from the community had Clark back doing what he loved until his retirement in 2012.
During his retirement, Clark loved visiting children in local schools and spending time at home with Officer Thibeault and his family.
Clark will be greatly missed.
Officer Thibeault and all of the men and women of the Yarmouth Police Department would like to thank retired Yarmouth Police Department K9 Officer Peter McClelland, retired Plymouth County Sheriff’s Department Major Ken Ballinger, and Massachusetts Department of Corrections Sergeant Mark O’Reilly for contributing to Clark’s successful career and the Cape Cod Police K9 Relief Fund for their support in Clark’s retirement.
