Cops investigate paranormal complaint… [Plus other stories and video]
Hyannis – [HN NOTES] In the middle of last night’s storm, shortly after 8:30pm, a seasoned veteran Barnstable Police Patrolman responded to Ocean Street after a spooked woman called dispatch complaining about “paranormal images” on her cell phone.
This wasn’t a routine call.
Officers had to wonder whether there were other issues behind the bizarre request for police services.
Was this merely the overactive imagination of a snowbound damsel in distress? Or, were there illicit narcotics driving hallucinations? Or was this, indeed, a legitimate – dun dun dun! – spooky cell phone ghost siting?
It’s HyannisNews.com policy to report on all things HyTown, seen or unseen. We always take paranormal cell phone ghost sitings very seriously.
So naturally, or should I dare say “supernaturally,” unwanted cell phone ghost images is something we believe most people would like to see reported on more often…
If you’re like me, you were hoping for a cell phone ghost siting all the way!
If you’re like most HyTown cops, you remain skeptical, but open minded…
The senior officer did what any good cop would do… he signed off, cautiously approached the residence, and began to thoroughly investigate the paranormal complaint.
Police are trained observers, able to spot things most citizens overlook.
After examining the images on the phone, taking the room, lighting, and outside snowy conditions into consideration, the sagacious patrolman solved the caper.
With the seriousness of a public servant who has truly seen it all, Barnstable Patrolman Steve O’Brien radioed that the paranormal-like image was the result of the woman standing in front of a window while taking a “selfie.”
The specter-like images turned out to be nothing more than inside reflections off a window contrasting with the dark and snowy outdoors…
… the eerie wind whistling through the nearby trees and harbor riggings probably didn’t help the woman’s frayed sensibilities.
Nobody was arrested.
Nobody needed to be transported to Cape Cod Hospital.
Just another dark stormy hoary evening in HyTown.
Paranormal case closed.
