CENTERVILLE – A 16-year-old had his cellphone stolen when he was at the mall earlier in the evening.

At approximately 10:35PM last evening, Barnstable Police Cruisers were notified that the 16-year-old was hot on the trail of the person who had his iPhone.

Police were looking for a red Ford Explorer traveling east on Route 28.

The 16-year-old, a friend, and his mom were out using an application called “Find My Friends” to zero in on the cell phone. They tracked the phone through Falmouth and Mashpee before crossing over into Barnstable.

Barnstable Police stopped the Ford Explorer on Route 28 in front of the MSPCA. Officers conducted a brief investigation which led to the juvenile passenger of the vehicle being taken into custody on the charge of Receiving Stolen Property…

BREWSTER – DEVELOPING – At about 8:30PM last evening, Cape & Islands drug task force agents followed a vehicle through about 5 towns before making a traffic stop in a quiet Brewster neighborhood. A drug sniffing dog then searched an individual who was being detained by officers.

A source at the scene identified the suspect as a man named Dean “Viprino.” He was eventually transported back to Brewster Police Headquarters for booking and processing.
