VIDEO: 45-year-old man struck multiple times in head with baseball bat… police looking for Hyannis woman…
HYANNIS – A man walked into the lobby of the Hyannis Travel Inn last evening with a two inch gash on his forehead, claiming to have just been beaten multiple times in the head with a baseball bat.
At about 8:35PM last evening, Barnstable Police and Hyannis Rescue responded to the Hyannis Travel Inn on North Street after receiving a phone call from hotel staff.
Medics arrived and reportedly treated a 45-year-old Hyannis man for injuries consistent with having just been struck in the head multiple times with a club or baseball bat. The victim had a two inch laceration on his forehead, along with swelling on his right hand from a fall. He reportedly never lost consciousness and was eventually transported to CCH for treatment, possibly stitches… The victim was discharged from CCH several hours later.
Police responded to an address on Washington Ave Extension looking for a female suspect from Hyannis, approximately age 20… Residents told police the suspect had just fled the address. Police gained permission to enter the property and do a brief consensual search, confirming the suspect was no longer there.
The suspect has a history of encounters with police, and was recently charged (within the past year) with a separate Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon… in that particular case, a 46-year-old man called police reporting he had just been stabbed.
(HN will provide the suspect’s identity and further details as the case unfolds.)
Police are still investigating last night’s crime and the above details have not yet been officially confirmed. HN will provide updates as they become available.
