Centerville blaze… [Video]
Centerville – A fire completely gutted a home at 72 Loomis Lane this evening. [11/22/2013 Update: Other sources are now reporting the actual fire took place at number 84 Loomis, not 72 Loomis Lane as originally reported…]
COMM Firefighters responded at 9pm and battled the blaze for well over an hour…
Firefighters worked wetting down the structure for much longer… it was still a very active scene as of 10:30pm…
Things became even more difficult for firefighters when approximately 900 feet of fire hose needed to be run in to cover an unusually long distance… the nearest hydrant being blocks away.
Additional firefighters were called in from Hyannis FD… as departments from surrounding Barnstable villages provided coverage at the COMM station.
Nobody was home during the fire…
It is still uncertain whether a family dog survived the fire… officials will be able to take a closer look in the morning…
No injuries were reported…
The cause of the fire is still under investigation, however there reportedly are no signs of it being suspicious at this time. Investigators will be taking a closer look during the daylight after the scene has had time to cool down…
A fire engine remains on scene as fire officials are keeping an eye on the property during the overnight just in case the remaining structure reignites.
