ARSON: Cotuit man witnesses someone burning his political signs… an ongoing issue… [Video]
Cotuit – At about 11:45pm last night, the Cotuit Fire Department and Barnstable Police responded to 1635 Santuit-Newtown Road (at the intersection with Route 28) where witnesses observed a man pour gas from a can and set fire to political yard signs.
The arsonist then reportedly fled the scene in a green Honda sedan…
This is reportedly the 6th or 7th time someone has vandalized the yard signs…
A surveillance video is said to show the arsonist pouring gas on two of the yard signs and then igniting them… almost lighting himself on fire in the process, with flames lighting up the ground around his feet…
One of the signs was almost completely consumed by the fire, the other was heavily singed…
Accompanied by a small beagle, the owner of the signs noted the damage in solemn astonishment.
A crime scene investigator took photographs and the incident remains under investigation by the Barnstable Police.
