Backup scrambled to locate trooper on the ground with fleeing suspect after takedown… [ARREST VIDEO & UPDATED DETAILS]
HYANNIS – A Massachusetts State Trooper was making a routine traffic stop at Hinckley and Hallett Road to advise regarding an expired inspection sticker, when the driver suddenly took off on foot…
At about 4:30pm, Barnstable and state police backup units scrambled to locate a trooper on the ground trying to secure an uncooperative suspect in the area of Baxter Road.
The trooper had just chased the driver on foot about four blocks down several icy side streets and was not exactly sure of his exact location. The trooper was having difficulty because the suspect had one of his forearms in a cast, which made it impossible to secure with standard size handcuffs. The suspect was not secured and reportedly refused to put his other hand behind his back. The man who had just fled the traffic stop was reportedly uncooperative and gave the trooper a hard time.
Barnstable officers saturated the area and eventually located the trooper, assisting him with securing the suspect.
Police quickly learned the possible reason why the man failed to stop for the trooper. The suspect is well known to police and had a warrant out for his arrest. The suspect also had a suspended drivers license.
In addition to the arrest warrant, Robert Brooks, approximately age 42, of Hyannis, is looking at multiple charges, including Failure to Stop for a Police Officer, Disorderly Conduct, Operating After Suspension, along with other motor vehicle violations…

HN NOTE: The trooper, IMO, did an excellent job catching up to and taking down the suspect. He kept his head on the radio and despite the snow covered landscape did not become disoriented... and was able to provide important details which allowed backup to locate him and eventually secure the uncooperative suspect. The exchange of information, radio traffic, and cooperation between both agencies was accurate and timely... which is notable because they don't necessarily monitor the same frequency.
