COPS SAVE MAN FROM HYANNIS HARBOR: Man had fallen off docks and could not climb out of frigid water… [HN VIDEO] [UPDATED]
HYANNIS – As you will see in the following HN Video, shortly after 2:00 a.m., Barnstable Police Officers had received a vague call about someone lying on the docks near Aselton Park, and that he may have possibly been trying to do his laundry.
Officers responded quickly, as it was just one or two months ago that police found a man in the same area of the docks deceased, completely frozen after being exposed to the water.
As you will see and hear, officers found that the man was not lying on the dock as initially reported, but rather had fallen in and become stuck, unable to climb out by himself and get to safety.
You’ll see officers pull the man from the frigid harbor. He told officers he had been stuck in the water for about half an hour. Had officers not arrived when they did, the man very likely would have succumbed to the cold water. The man, who told HN he was 57-years-old, was transported to CCH.
According to online sources, today’s Hyannis area water temperature is 42°.
