BE LEERY: Woman had car stolen when she stopped next to transportation center…
HYANNIS – A woman had just parked in the drop-off/pick-up lane next to the transportation center and her car was stolen after she had stepped out.
The car was running and suddenly a male and female ran up, jumped in, and took off, witnesses say.
At about 7:30PM last evening, Barnstable Police took a report of a stolen Black Honda Accord from the Hyannis Transportation Center.
A black male had reportedly jumped into the driver’s seat, and a white female was said to have jumped into the passenger seat.
The driver was described as a light skin black male, with a closely cropped Afro, a goatee, approximately age 30 to 40, wearing black pants and a black shirt…
The passenger was described as white female, brunette, about 150 pounds, about 20-years-old, wearing a white shirt and blue pants…
A couple of Town Taxi drivers reportedly attempted to follow the fleeing stolen vehicle as it sped along Route 28 toward Yarmouth.
Nearby police departments were notified and officers focused on the Route 28 area.
One of the taxi drivers told police they had last seen the fleeing stolen motor vehicle in the area of Giardino’s Family Restaurant on Route 28 in West Yarmouth.
The vehicle was not located, despite the witnesses and a quick response time from police in the area.
The owner of the vehicle was given a lift to her destination by the officer taking the report.
