BEEMER STRIKES POLE-SUPPORT, TEMPORARILY KNOCKS OUT POWER IN MASHPEE [HN PHOTOS]
MASHPEE, MASSACHUSETTS – [HN PHOTO NOTES] – The Mashpee Police patrol division is investigating what caused a BMW sedan to suddenly leave the roadway and strike a utility pole-support early this morning. The crash happened around 4:10 a.m. on Route 28 near the intersection with Industrial Drive. Mashpee Police patrol officers were on scene just moments after receiving the initial call. The driver had reportedly been able to self-extricate and was evaluated by Mashpee FD EMTs, according to radio transmissions. (At the time of this report, it’s uncertain whether the driver was transported to hospital.) Power was knocked out in the area for a period of time. As of 5:36 a.m. Eversource had managed to restore power but was still working on stabilizing the pole so the vehicle could be safely removed. The Mashpee Police Department is actively investigating the cause of the single-vehicle crash…
BREWSTER, MASSACHUSETTS
HN NOTES: Early this morning, HN was en route to Brewster after a teenage girl had been reported missing. A B.O.L.O was put out to all Cape police departments for the missing child. Just before 4:00 a.m., a state trooper located two bicycles at the edge of Flax Pond in Nickerson State Park. One of the bicycles fit the description of the one belonging to the missing girl. The trooper investigated further and was able to make contact with the missing child. The Brewster Police sent a patrol officer to meet up with the girl and the trooper. HN rerouted at this point to the crash scene in Mashpee. The missing child B.O.L.O. was canceled shortly thereafter…
