Bicyclist struck by taxi…

HYANNIS – A 25-year-old man wasn’t wearing a helmet when he was struck by a taxi at the entrance to the transportation center on Center Street at about 8:30PM last evening.
According to sources, the bicyclist appeared to be nearly unconscious after the collision. He had injuries to his head and told first responders he was in a lot of pain. He was transported to CCH to receive care for a possible concussion. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
A Barnstable Patrolman spoke with witnesses and is investigating the accident.
No further information was available at the time of this report.

Police want to discourage homeless from camping on town hall steps… and village green…

HYANNIS – Barnstable Police have been trying to discourage the homeless from camping on the town band stand and village green. The following photos were taken this morning at about 1:30AM. Two individuals were arrested for setting up a camp on the Barnstable Town Hall steps. According to police, the two homeless individuals have been repeatedly warned about camping and trespassing around town hall during the prohibited nighttime hours.
