On Saturday, October 10, 2015 at approx 1847 hours the Barnstable Police Department received a call from Cape Cod Hospital regarding a barricaded male in the Mugar Building room 311.
It was reported that the male in the room also had a knife. Several officers from the Barnstable Police Department were dispatched to Mugar Building 3rd floor.
When the officers arrived the patient in room 311 had barricaded himself inside his room and set off the fire sprinkler system for his room and the room next to it.
Officer’s Troy Perry, Dan Ruth, Pat Fallon, John O’Hare and Brian Jones entered the room and placed the male in room in handcuffs for his safety.
No one was injured during the incident. All five officers were soaking wet from the fire suppression system.
The patient from Mugar 311 was transported to the Emergency Room for a physical and psychological evaluation.
Criminal charges will be pending at a later date.
Hyannis Fire Responded to assist with the sprinkler system and flood on Mugar 3rd floor.
Yarmouth Police also responded and assisted with traffic.

While responding, first responders also learned he had reportedly just barricaded himself in a room on the third floor and somehow allegedly managed to set off all the fire sprinklers…
HN was on scene and rolling video as police and firefighters responded. About 10 minutes into the ordeal, Barnstable Police exited down the front steps of the Mugar Building with a male detained in handcuffs.
The male and several officers were soaking wet from the sprinklers. An officer told HN that they were not injured, just cold…
The male in handcuffs was treated for some type of laceration before being placed in the backseat of a squad car.
Yarmouth Police also responded and assisted in shutting down Bayview Street.
At about 8:30PM, the time of this report, police and firefighters were still at the scene.
According to radio transmissions, firefighters were assisting with the fire sprinklers and alarm system.
