Bad crash on winding Route 6A… two cats reportedly missing…
BARNSTABLE – Fortunately no humans were seriously injured last evening when a car suddenly left the winding roadway, struck a telephone pole, and crashed into a thicket of brush.
The accident occurred at about 8:20PM and took out mailboxes at number 2262 Main Street (Route 6A).
One male was transported to CCH with non-life-threatening injuries; another male and female were checked out and treated on scene for minor cuts and scrapes.
Two telephone poles were damaged and at least one household reported not having power. NSTAR crews were called to the scene and will be working on the damaged wires and poles.
The driver of the vehicle was given a field sobriety test by police, which he passed. He was, however, issued a citation for driving to endanger.
The accident is being investigated by the BPD.

PHOTOS: Hyannis Rescue workers bandaged the wounds of a young male on Bassett Lane early Monday morning. According sources, the two juvenile males flagged down police stating they had been jumped and assaulted by 3 men in an alleyway off Main Street in the West End. The juveniles had just sneaked out from their homes when their parents thought they were still in bed. The boys’ parents came to the scene to pick them up after they were treated by rescue workers for scrapes… Barnstable Police are investigating.

PHOTO: Barnstable patrol officers warned a group who were allegedly involved in a volatile disturbance Monday morning. A physical altercation between a group of juveniles and two grown men is said to have taken place prior to police arriving on scene. Officers did not witness enough to make arrests. Both sides of the fray were advised they could take out their own charges in district court if they so choose.

On 10/10/2015, Members of the Barnstable Street Crime Unit were on patrol in the east end of Hyannis. At 2:30pm, a suspicious vehicle was located in the area 10 Stuart Street, Hyannis. The vehicle had a lone male sitting in the passenger seat. Further investigation revealed the male subject, later identified as Jay E Blalock, age 44, of Dorchester, MA, was found in possession of approximately 5 ounces of marijuana in a large heat sealed bag. BLALOCK initially gave SCU members a false name. The vehicle he was sitting in was registered to a 44 year old female from Dedham, Massachusetts. The female was observed walking toward the parked vehicle and was encountered by SCU members.
She was found in possession of a backpack which contained marijuana, individually packaged THC cannabis candies, and small containers of hashish. Also found in the backpack was $3520 in US currency. The female said she was a medical marijuana user and produced a valid MASS ID card. Found in the truck of her vehicle was an additional 8.5 ounces of individually packaged marijuana, drug packing material, and digital scale. The female only knew her passenger’s first name as “JAY” and stated he lived in Dorchester, MA. Further investigation reveal BLALOCK is a convicted drug dealer with an extensive criminal history involving the distribution of narcotics. He also had an outstanding warrant for probation violation from the State of Alabama.
Both the female and BLALOCK were arrested and charged with the following:
Jay Blalock:
1. Poss of class D marijuana with intent to distribute (subsequent offense)
2. Conspiracy to violate the narcotics laws
3. Fugitive from Justice-Alabama
XX female:
1. Poss of class D marijuana with the intent to distribute
2. Conspiracy to violate controlled substance law
3. Poss of class C hashish with intent to distribute.
BLALOCK was held without bail and will be arraigned in Barnstable District Court on Tuesday October 13th, 2015. The 44 yr old female was released on bail and will also be arraigned in Barnstable District Court on Tuesday October 13th, 2015.
