Hyannis – At about 4:30pm fighters and police rushed to a fully involved fire at 174 Main Street.

People were reportedly still in the building while first responders were making their way to the scene…

Some were reportedly trapped on the upper floor. A couple of infants were lowered from a second floor window, while another had to jump to safety…

Hyannis News spoke with witnesses and one woman who was very close to the flames when it all started… [see above video]
Everyone managed to escape the building safely.

Hyannis News observed a mother and her infant child being taken away on a stretcher. I’m told both her and the baby should be okay…

I’m also told there are several apartments inside this building…

All the residents will be without a home tonight and quite possibly indefinitely…
… the Red Cross was on scene and they can sometimes provide temporary housing for one or two nights.

Christmas is just 18 days away and many were very distraught, having lost many of their personal belongings…

Both adults and very young children will be displaced by this tragedy…
