BREAKING : HyPort Security reports intruder still inside building…
Hyannis Port – Several Barnstable Police squad cars raced to 10 Hyannis Ave. late today after Hyannis Port Security called and reported a possible ‘Breaking and Entering’ in progress.
According to dispatchers, Hyannis Port security was checking the seaside home at the intersection of Washington Ave. and Hyannis Ave. (the house with the big lighthouse in front…), when they encountered a man entering the property.
According to security the home owners were away and they did not recognize the individual… When confronted, the male would not talk and continued into the residence.
Police surrounded the building and conducted a search of the interior. After about 15 minutes of searching Officers radioed they had someone detained to the rear of the property.
Officers escorted a white male, luggage, and a bicycle to the driveway where the suspect was cuffed and placed into a squad car. The luggage and bicycle were also loaded into the trunk of the squad car.
Bags, bicycle, and suspect were transported to Barnstable Police Headquarters.
It is still uncertain what the official charges are…. Hyannis News will provide updates as they become available.
