BREWSTER – Firefighters received a report of smoke coming from an attic vent at 26 Leona Terrace earlier today, shortly after 11:00 a.m.. Brewster firefighters arrived to find a bedroom fully involved with flames. Mutual aid firefighters responded from surrounding towns. Crews managed to knock down most of the flames fairly quickly, containing the fire to a rear corner of the structure. Despite the quick response, a large section of the residence and its contents were heavily damaged. There were no pets or residents inside the burning building. And there were no reports of any firefighters being injured. The cause of the fire is actively being investigated by the Brewster Fire Department.
